welcome back to another episode of cappuccino chat this time we're talking about why backup and Disaster Recovery is a winning combination all right so this time we're talking about why Backup Plus Disaster Recovery is a winning combination so backup in and of itself is not good enough let me explain if you're backing up to maybe a USB hard drive or to a USB stick of some kind or maybe just to the cloud these Solutions are not good enough in a disaster recovery environment so let me explain what might happen here so let's say your server is being backed up to a USB drive and let's say um it gets ransomware so that drive is also now ransomed and ineffective basically now your backup is useless to you and nothing can be done with implementing Disaster Recovery in a couple different forms and Fashions we can prevent that from happening plus help you recover in a true disaster environment so let's say the server for whatever reason will not boot some bad part maybe a power supply maybe hard drives motherboard whatever it might be right now if you're just backing up to a USB hard drive or whatever you're going to be down and offline until that you get a replacement part or a replacement server that could be days weeks you never know so one most likely you can't be down that long so when you add a disaster recovery Appliance and Andor plus the cloud you can now recover locally and in the cloud so let me walk through that let's say again your server does not boot for whatever reason we can with the appliance that we sell and the solution we offer we can basically virtualize that failed server onto our appliance that we have on site so that it becomes your failed device while we fix whatever part or replace whatever we need to that way you're not offline now let's take it to the extreme let's say God forbid a fire earthquake and your building is gone so therefore your USB hard drive or USB stick might be gone in the old backup only method but even with our solution that Appliance is now buried under Rubble or burnt to a crisp and is no good that's where the cloud comes into play and with the cloud and not all clouds are the same we can do that exact same thing where we can virtualize your server up in the cloud so that from home Starbucks wherever it might be we can get you access to that data while we're figuring things out um you know where to ship a new device to data can be pre-loaded those types of things so that's what I'm really talking about is in a true disaster scenario which it's not just people accidentally deleting the file or deleting the folder of course any solution can do that that's a given what I'm talking about is those disaster areas and it really comes into play with what we call now in the industry business continuity so how fast do you need to be back up and running that's where that continuity comes into play so that when your client calls you don't say ah well I'd like to help you or I'd like to look that up for you I'd like to take an order but I can't because our server is not not working right now we don't want to put you in that situation so we need to determine how long can you be without access to those types of devices I.E your server before it becomes an issue is it 1 hour is it 4 hours is it a day if if it takes a day to fix you're okay with it anything longer than a day you're not good with it once we know these things we can get you the proper solution and get things in place and you really want that Disaster Recovery piece because we're not just talking about regular file and folder restores again everything does that you want to have that ability that in a true disaster either locally and or in the the cloud you can truly recover from any type of disaster ransomware server Hardware issue ET fire earthquake Etc so if you'd like to find out more about our solution or if your solution does do disaster recovery and you're just not sure or you're not sure if you're backing everything up that you should be backing up please reach out to us at 76077 5200 e
