welcome back to another episode of cappuccino chat this time we're talking about what my predictions are for 2022. so this time is going to be a little different we're just kind of talking in general about my predictions for 2022 as a business owner and what we're seeing in the it and technology field now i hope everybody had a great christmas and a happy new year and all that good stuff and here it is already february and we're probably talking about you know the super bowl i don't know which side you're going there i'm not going to get into that it's kind of like talking politics it's just going to cause arguments so let's get into some of my predictions um one of them you're probably going to be able to guess but it's not going to be too popular but i'll start with the first one and that is with apple so i see apple really taking off this next year getting more involved in the business environment if you're not currently using an apple product within your business i think it's something to consider now with everything that's going on i think there are ways to integrate the different products to make our lives easier and better now also it's no surprise when it comes to apple is i'm anticipating a bunch of new products again this year right so they're they're known for it they're going to announce some stuff i think some of it's going to be really good for small businesses like the new mini pc from them they kind of started the whole mini craze and i i think their next rendition of it is going to be awesome for small businesses to use and is going to be the perfect business mac computer if you will of course we're expecting the new iphone again or another new iphone or family there of ipads i don't think we're going to see much on those we might see something later on the year but they just did a big release last year so not thinking too much on the ipad really looking at the mini and the imacs for them to really come out and push some new stuff i think in those two markets laptops they did a great job last year i've got a new macbook pro and i'm loving this thing so far for everything i'm using it within the business for everything that we do still need the pc for a couple of things i mean you're gonna find those things but there are some easier ways around it depending upon what your needs are so again that's why i said i think this is the year of apple with them producing their own chips and coming out with things kind of staying ahead of that and bringing it to the business environment i think they're really going after that and i think now with the way a lot of things are shifting more and more to the cloud and remote access and stuff like that i think apple products are something a business owner should consider using and implementing within the business now my next one is going to be a little more unpopular and probably guess it has to do with security so if 2021 taught us anything as far as security goes it's that these guys are going to get get more and more creative and they're going to come after us even harder so we had the colonial pipeline attack and some of the big ones i think we're going to continue to see those and i think one of the big things from a small business standpoint that we need to look at as a community in implementing and kind of making it that um [Music] base level if you will right it's already kind of out there if you're if you're doing anything with your cyber insurance providers in the questionnaires you're probably seeing more and more of this is they're talking about two-factor authentication so next month for march um and in this episode um i'm not really going to get into it too much but next next month you'll see the video more talk about two factor and the importance there of it but anything you do for accessing something remotely again not inside your office outside of your control right it needs to have two-factor authentication on it at a minimum nowadays so your bank accounts and any providers and systems you access email that's the big one for like office 365 majority of attacks 90 and is probably closer to 98 for small businesses and when i say small businesses i'm saying companies you know 100 users and under right so that's a small medium-sized business so most if not all attacks breaches everything happen through email they come in via an email and it's caused by a human clicking something that they shouldn't have clicked so if we can stop those things if we can help prevent those things from being causing too much damage and taking things over two factor is one of those ways by making sure that if we did accidentally let somebody in and get control of our email system they can't then log in from anywhere and pretend to be us and take control because they would be stopped by the two factor and i know some of you might be saying well matt that's true but i heard there's ways around two-factor there are ways around two-factor if somebody really wants what you've got and i've said this from the beginning if someone really wants what you've got they're gonna get it it's not gonna matter you could give me a million dollars today get you all set up with security and tomorrow we're going to need to start over because they're going to find a way around it that they really want you issue is though for mo for small businesses for the most part you're just caught up in the everybody net you're not going at being gone after specifically it's not like they wake up and say okay i'm going to pick on your company today you're being picked on as part of you know the thousand that they're going after today that's what's happening and it's primarily coming through email and that's what they're doing and then they want to spread to those that you know and then those that they know and again spread through the email so those are my predictions i'm can i willing to put money on both of them because i know it's going to happen apple's always going to be pioneering and releasing new products and security is even becoming more and more of a need for small businesses please please if you don't have two-factor authentication enabled on your stuff please do that now if you're with a bank that doesn't enforce it and make you do it for your online banking find a new bank immediately you need to get this done so if you need help with anything please as always reach out to us 760-770-5200
